7th Grade English/Reading
I graduated high school from Calvary Baptist School in Conroe, Tx. In 1999, I graduated from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor.
I have a bachelors of education degree and am certified to teach first through eighth grades. I am ESL certified.
I love learning and am constantly on the hunt for new material to help me grow as a person. I read books about teaching and parenting, listen to audiobooks, and attend conferences and workshops to get new ideas to implement in my classroom.
My husband & I have called Centerville home since 2003. I was fortunate enough to get a teaching job with CISD the summer we got married and began teaching 4th grade reading in 2003. When our first child was born, I decided to take a break from teaching to stay home. Fifteen years later I found myself back in 4th grade teaching writing. As much as I loved the elementary and the people there, my heart was leading me to the middle/high school campus. When the 7th grade reading and English position was offered to me, I jumped on it! I love this district and the people in it!
Right after I graduated college, I was offered a position teaching 5th grade reading at Scott Elementary in Temple, TX. The next year, I made a shift to first grade to see what the little were like. I moved back to my hometown, Atascocita, the following year and took a position teaching 4th grade reading and writing at Kings Manor Elementary in New Caney, TX. I taught there until I moved to Centerville.
My husband and I have called Centerville home since 2003. We met at the annual July 4th parade in 2002 and got married the following July. And the rest is history! We have two children, Tanner & Tate. Both are students at CISD. We have a precious dog, named Scout, who we rescued from Rufus Refuge. She is hands down the best! We stay busy with ours boys’ extracurricular activities, but we love to travel and see new places when we have the chance.
My very favorite thing to do is spend time with my family! We like to travel, but also like to spend time on the lake playing. I have visited several countries in Europe, but I think the one I love most is Ireland. My ancestors immigrated to America from County Clare, Ireland, met up with Spanish empresarios and settled in South Texas.
Obviously, I love to read since I am a reading teacher! My favorite genre is historical fiction becasue I love to get a sense of what life in other time periods was really like. When I’m not in the classroom, you can find me at the lake! I grew up boating, water skiing, and playing on lakes & am brainwashing my family to love it as much as I do!
